Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQs)
How
many runners enter the race?
Because of the limits on car parking and other facilities
at Wilmslow RUFC, we have to limit the number of runners to 4,000.
When
should I enter?
Although the closing date is in February you are strongly
advised to enter as early as possible to try and guarantee acceptance
- this is because the race is always oversubscribed.
I've
entered, but I haven't received my number.
We do not post out race packs until three weeks before
the race. If you still haven't received your pack ten days before
the race, please e-mail
me with your name and age and I will investigate.
My
friends have received their race numbers but I haven't got mine. Why?
There is often a few days delay between race numbers being posted
out for a variety of reasons. If you have received a confirmation
email then your entry has been accepted and you should receive your
race number in the next few days.
I
be going to the race by public transport. How do I get to the start?
Please see Street
Map of Wilmslow which shows the railway station, the main town
centre bus stop at Bank Square and the race start at Kings Road. Allow
ten to fifteen minutes to walk to the start
I'm
thinking of travelling up the day before and staying overnight. Where
can I find some affordable accommodation in the Wilmslow area?
Have alook at our accommodation
page which has links to websites that carry up-to-date listings
of where to stay and how much it will cost.
The
race starts at 10.30am but what time should I arrive at the venue?
You must arrive at least one hour before the
start and earlier if you can. Most of the 4,000+ runners arrive
between 9.30-10.00am resulting in them getting stuck in traffic congestion.
If you can arrive before 9.00am you will "beat the crush" and experience
little or no traffic congestion and you will be able to get one of
the best parking spaces. You won't have to queue to use the toilets
and you will get the best bargains amongst the discounted sports goods
on sale. You will arrive at the start line more relaxed and have a
better chance of a good race
